Turning Stories Into Impact.
What Would You Wish For?
In January 2025, I distinctly remember my Mom calling me with news from the annual Make-A-Wish board retreat, telling me that a girl had created a fictional children's book about wish kids for Make-A-Wish Vermont. I had just finished writing A Rocket to Belonging and was deciding what my next book for Keiki Stories would be, when my mom suggested I do something similar, only for Make-A-Wish Hawaii. I came up with idea of featuring four real Hawaii Wish Kids showcasing the diversity of wishes at Make-A-Wish and also the diveristy of Hawaii Wish Kids.
More than a year later the finished product, What Would You Wish For? is now available for purchase. Fifty percent of the proceeds from each book is donated to Make A Wish Hawaii.
At the book signing, two of the wish kids featured in the book were able to attend and autograph their books. Remi Jose, the local children’s book illustrator who brought my words to life also attended. I was supported by the Make A Wish team and my friends, mentors and family for a truly special day.
