Ms. Navarro was essential in the development of my critical thinking skills throughout my junior year. Through her AP US History course, I not only learned to look to history to understand the present, but I also developed a framework for engaging with issues I faced in developing my nonprofit by analyzing the root causes of problems and the historical context surrounding them. She has been pivotal in my development as a person and as an analytical thinker.
Mr. Manfre, also known as “Uncle Joe” to me due to our family connection, was truly one of the first teachers to fully “meet me on my level”, engaging my curiosity and fanning the flames of a lifelong passion for learning within me. Although he was only my 7th-grade math teacher, he inspired me to pursue other academic pursuits, such as writing, that helped me blossom into a more complete individual.
